THE LOVE OF MY LIFE!
Don't have the time to fix up myself and looking to buy a bigger car.
This is one of the original styles of Renault 5, quite rare and distinct in Britain (quite a few in France though). Its body corners aren't as sharp as more modern renault 5's. So for those who want a cool classic look, this car is for you.
This car has a simple engine that is easy to fix yourself with basic knowledge of how engines work. Also because it's simple it's less likely to break down. All you really need to know is water and oil fill up, and changing the spark plugs and fan belt. It really is a simple engine! And a brillent car because it!!
PROBLEMS:
Fan belt broke on me once and has been replaced, so shouldn't be a problem any more for a long time.
Minor rust - all cometic as I can see (not structural), though who knows what an MOT guy will fail you on today. Would be extremely easy to sort out, if they kick up a fuss.
Exhaust has rusted as you can see in pic. I have taken it off and made a replacement (the lower one on same pic) that just needs attaching using the high heat resistant rubber tubing (also provided for you). Might take you about an hour to put on yourself. Don't need to be tecnically minded to do it either.
'Suspect' clutch is going! But it hasn't. Replacement would be around £90. OR from a scrap dealer - £20 maybe??
Few minor dents, can be pushed out if you know what you're doing (I didn't make the dents btw). Also front right panel of car has been replaced in its time and has faded in comparison to the rest of the car (again not me).
Window screen wipers would need replacing to pass MOT (at £3 a wiper blade it shouldn't be a problem)
Very nippy! With one person in it. More load has a noticable effect.
Max speed is about 90mph. But it'll scare the hell out of you.
Battery's flat at the moment but I can charge it for you, no problem.
Interior is worn (seats). They work fine and would pass MOT. New seats can be easily fitted.
Suspension has started to fade. All this means, with this car (remember very simple), is the torsion bars need clamping and turning (tightening). Very easy. A car garage can do it for you no probs, don't let them over-charge you!! If you had the tools it could take you 40 minutes to do. Also the car 'would pass' an MOT with out having to fix this problem.
At the moment the car has 'No Road Tax' (declared SORN) and 'No MOT'.

Has done a low mileage! (32,733 miles in 25 years)
In extremely good condition for its age! Tecnically a vintage car!
Comes with four alloy wheels!! and spare (which is not an alloy). At the moment the spare is on the car. I recently found new tyres for this car at £25 per each tyre!!! I 'suspect' tyres would pass MOT in condition they are at the moment, but might not!

I got quoted £213 for 1 years insurance
