[edit] Introduction

R5Gordini (Andrew) is the owner of the site. His first experience of Renault 5s was when his grandfather owned a Renault 5 Automatic. This was later replaced by another, and finally by a Renault 5 TL Le Car 2, A162 MRU. Andrew inherited this car when he was 15 (1992), and learnt to drive in it. He still has the car, some 15 years later.

Andrew set up this Renault 5 site in around 1995, just as a single page. It grew into a new, larger site in 1998.

In 2002, he wrote his own custom content management system to support the needs of the site. This content management system had built in articles and photo albums. Now, in March 2007, he launched the current site - which is based on an open source content management system - Joomla. Included in this site are modules: a gallery, classified adverts, blog, wiki, forum, etc. All (hopefully) nicely integrated within Joomla. Andrew has customised MediaWiki to entirely integrate it into the site. Something that's not been done with any other site before (to Andrew's knowledge).

I also have collected a fair number of lockups' worth of parts. I generally take a van, or van and trailer to someone who is getting out of working with Renault 5s, or has run out of room. I purchase all the parts as a job lot, storing most of them and selling the parts I don't need.
