History of HY-64-TV

This is an LHD Renault 5 Alpine turbo (Gordini Turbo). It is an original Dutch car with manufacturing date 21-07-1982. The origin of this car goes back to the city of Venlo(NL). (Recorded until 31-05-2003). Then it was bought by Jack van de V***, who lives in Hoevelaken(NL). On Saturday 3th of November 2007 it is in my possession and I live in Nijmegen(NL) near the border of Germany.

Appearance

This car is 'original', which means it has no nasty exhaust pipes or things like that. Currently I drive around with a gray engine cover. I used to have French yellow headlights, but one is blown. So I have normal whites again.
It is an LHD.
I am not sure if the ride height is right. Sometimes I scratch speed bumps with my gearbox(!).

Spare parts list

  • bonnet (blue)
  • door left (gray)
  • door right (gray)
  • tailgate reflector plates (red)
  • rear screens (unpainted)
  • fog lamps
  • 1 fog lamp cover (Cibie)

Ship's log

[03-11-2007]
I've bought the car. The first thing to do, is to get this car APK (Dutch MOT) approved, therefore it needs some welding and refitting of brake parts and many more.
[14-12-2007]
'MOT' approved!
[01-02-2008]
Finally I've got the right Haynes Manual
[02-02-2008]
I've bought:
- several fog lamp parts
[10-03-2008]
I've bought:
- 2 doors
- a bonnet
- 2 screens that go over the rear wheels.
[22-03-2008]
First time I actually could give my car a closer inspection. I fitted a better engine cover with less (no) rust and removed bird nests from the engine compartment. I also fitted new fog lamps, because one was broken and therefore removed. I haven't managed to get the left one working. I stopped trying, because it started snowing and it was to cold to.
[08-06-2008]
Yesterday I went to my first meeting in Bergambacht, NL. My R5AT was the only one among 3 R5T2 and 1 R5T(1).
[29-06-2008]
Meeting in Brustem, BE. I've bought 2 fog lamp covers.

To do ...

  • 1 new front fog lamp

(I've several lying around for refitting)
But one isn't working (electrical problem)

  • a new right door (passengers door)

Currently thinking of not doing this.

  • attach speedometer cable

broken again

  • welding left-front sill
  • new brake lines
  • new brake pads
  • new brake disks
  • fix bonnet

I have a gray bonnet now, but without badge

  • Attach badge
  • remove rubbish from engine compartment

Closer inspection of air filter and engine compartment revealed bird and mouse nests :S

  • fix blower reattached resistor
  • repair stuck heater (nice on hot days :S) WD40!
  • fix windscreen washer bottle
  • change engine oil
  • fix nasty leak from above, which leaves a pool of water inside
  • change gearbox oil
  • fix interior light
  • fix rear lock (it wobbles a bit)
  • clean windshield (some kind of raisin) (looks more like something has etched it, sandstorm, grinder sparks?)
  • front-left headlamp rubber (that goes over connector) found it under the back seat!
  • new sills
  • attach fog lamp covers
  • replace fuel filter
  • replace air filter
  • and many things more
