Description:
This car previously sold but the buyer couldn't come up with the funds in the end so it is now unexpectedly for sale again.
1986 D Registered Phase 1 Renault 5 GT Turbo.
General overview:
This car is the best phase 1 Renault 5 GT Turbo in existance and has covered a genuine 26,000 miles from new. This is a very rare car and is in timewarp condition throughout. The originality defies belief - the car is completely standard and original - exactly how it left the factory. The phase 1 R5 GTT is much rarer than the phase 2 and as such tends to be more sought after.
Interior:
The interior is immaculate and has no faults. It is completely standard and looks/smells like new. The original radio/cassette player and speakers are still intact as is the original rear parcel shelf. The car came with some expensive options including central locking and electric windows. The dials are shiny and have not faded due to the fact that the car has had such a cherished life and the dashboard has no cracks whatsoever - again very rare.
Exterior:
The car is painted in original pearl white, and has never recieved any paint, she has all the orginal panels with all the correct stamps and stickers. The exterior is in unbelievable condition and looks stunning when in the sunlight - it really needs to be seen in the flesh to appreciate. This colour was a very expensive factory option. The car has done such an incredibly low mileage that it is still sporting its original and much sought after MXV tyres. That is how original this car is. The panels are remarkably straight - something normally unheard of on a renault due to the very thin panels. The 5 still has its original alloys which are unkerbed. An additional 'nod' to originality is that the car still wears its original number plates supplied new from the supplying dealer.
Engine Bay:
Looks like brand new - this is one pampered little toy. It has been cleaned and polished beyond belief - there still exists all the original stickers and tags and there is no rust on the car - even in the engine bay!
Mechanical/Driving:
I cannot get across just how superb this car drives - it is as tight as a nut and genuinely feels like brand new. There are no squeaks or rattles. This is exactly how a Renault 5 GT Turbo should be. As all original exhausts perish, this one has had a custom made stainless steel exhaust made to original specification with a lifetime warranty and at a cost of hundreds of pounds. Every single switch works and the car does not overheat whatsoever.
History:
Every single MOT from new:
1989 - recorded mileage 13,249
1990 - recorded mileage 15,114
1991 - recorded mileage 15996
1992 - recorded mileage 17,113
1993 - recorded mileage 18,626
1994 - recorded milegae 19,351
1995 - recorded mileage 20,723
1996 - recorded mileage 21,520
1997- recorded mileage 22,115
1998 - recorded mileage 22,977

2003 - recorded mileage 23,998
2004 - recorded mileage 24,851
2005 - recorded mileage 25,911
The vehicle has almost always been MOT'd at the same place each year - as if each MOT isn't enought there also exists an MOT diagnosis sheet including crypton gas analysis for each year the car has been MOT'd.
Every tax disc from new
In addition there exists quite simply the largest collection of bills/paperwork I have seen for any vehicle, the most notable being:
The original 24 month warranty - signed and dated
the original PDI inspection report - signed and dated
the original order form supplied to Weldale Motors LTD specifying the factory fitted options - this is unbelievably rare. The factory fitted options were rear speakers, sonic
alarm, custom pack and the special pearl white paint. If you are wondering the total cost of the car back then was £9,038.99!!
Every single possible bill for the upkeep and maintenance of the car is included in the history - it is impossible to name it all but it adds up to thousands and thousands of pounds. A selection of bills follows:
Kelton garage LTD - £252.64 - 01/11/1991
Kelton Garage LTD - £466.71 - 29/10/1991
Kelton Garage LTD - £265.55 - 29/10/1993
Kelton Garage LTD - £262.36 - 13/05/1996
Kelton Garage LTD - £268.31 - 23/10/1997
Kelton Garage LTD - £404.27 - 30/09/1998
Kelton Garage LTD - £334.28 - 10/02/1999
As mentioned the above is just a selection - there are £1000's of pounds worth of other bills.
Other pieces of history are:
Sales receipt from when the previous owner bought the car from a garage
various letters from renault UK to the original owner
renault owners club manuals, letters and literature
MOT bills
Conclusion:
I have owned a concours 205 GTi and a 31,000 mile series 1 RS Turbo and I can honestly say that they don't live up to this Renault 5 GT Turbo. GT Turbo's are very very rare nowadays due to most being tuned/thrased/rotten so to find one in this condition with this mileage and in completely unspoilt original condition is very unusual.
Bad points:
I would honestly say this car is as near to perfection as is physically possible - there is the odd mark on the bodywork and scratch on the bumper - but this is only natural considering the car has never had any paintwork/touchups and is 20 years old. The wingmirrors could be improved upon, there is an ever so small dent on the front wing and there is a tiny piece of bubbling just below the front windscreen. I have disclosed every known fault on the car - anyone who says a 20 year old car is faultless isn't telling the truth!
£4,995 no offers - unfortunately I won't move a penny on the price as it is very cheap for what it is. The last similar mileage one for sale was a white one that sold for £6,500 and similar RS Turbo's are around £8,500 with similar MK1 Golf GTi's being over £10,000. Yes others are cheaper, you get what you pay for and this car isn't for a boy racer, it is for an enthusiast who can afford to pay for the best. This car, if looked after can only go up in value and it is a steal at this price.
If you need to sell a car first or arrange funds I will be happy to keep the car for up to 4 weeks as long as I receive a £500 deposit first.
