Spotted (sold) on The 80s Emporium in April 2007, with the following text:
1984/A Renault 5 "Flair": Very rare limited edition based on the original Mark 1 shape Renault 5 TL. These along with the "Le Car 2" Renault 5's appeared as the original Renault 5 prepared to bow out to make way for its successor, the all new "Supercinq" of 1985. Less than 300 of these "Flair" editions were imported for the UK market, available in three colours only, Red, White and Blue. If one assumes there were 100 of each colour, then 22 years on, and given the original Renault 5's propensity to rust away, then I would conjecture there are only a handful of Flairs remaining and certainly none with such a low genuine mileage, in entirely original condition and in the best colour: Electric Blue Supergloss Metallic (485) - which was unique to the "Flair" and the high-performance Gordini models. Original "Flair" appointments: Rear roof spoiler, special alloy wheels, Momo Italian leather steering wheel, glass sunroof and the special colours with prominent tricolor side decals and badging. Owned by an elderly gentleman between 1988 and 2000, the car was always garaged and from 1993 was only taken out a few times a year, mainly to get a new MoT. In 2000 it was passed on to his daughter-in-law who for the past 6 years has only covered less than 2000 miles per annum travelling to babysit her grandchildren 3 miles away. In recent years it has benefitted from a new cylinder head, carburettor, clutch and starter motor and serviced every year too. It drives beautifully and has bags of character. Thanks to the 5-speed transmission 60mpg+ is said to be attainable at a constant 56mph. 12 months MoT. SOLD.
