Hello and welcome to my auction
This is my 1983 Renault 5 Gordini Turbo
I have owned this car for 8 years and only driven the car for the first year and only covered 208 miles!
I will stop you reading this list now if your expecting to get a minter for a few hundred pounds! Pay the £2500 to £3000 price tag for class one cars please.
I will list this car as honestly as i can but at the end of the day this car needs work so you have been warned!
History.
First registered on the 1/9/1983 by Chris Ingram Ass Ltd shaftesbury avenue London.
Been a local car to me in Oxfordshire since 1988.
I have the Renault original warranty card which is stamped to 45,880 on the 23/6/1989 other stamps are Renault in Godalming surrey and Shottermill Haslemere.
Renault stamped service history till 45,000 Lots of bills and receipts from previous owners thereon!
I'm the 12th owner and I registered the car on 31/3/2000.
All MOT's from the 31/8/1989 mileage 47766 to 8/1/2002 mileage 88742.
Ok let's start with the things that need attention:
The engine is a replacement that I got changed when I bought the car!
I still have the original engine and will be included in the sale of the auction. The previous owner advised me to change the original engine as it was leaking serious oil! So thats what I did. Ok, the replacement engine turns but does not fire up.
The clutch does not work - I think the thrust bearing is damaged???
Front fog lights do not work, the light comes on the dash when the button is pressed.
Driver side electric window is slow and the passenger side does not operate.
I replaced the boot lid as the original was rotten! I have the original tinted glass and beading to go into the replacement and plastic inner cover.
Steering plastic cowling falls down as I've lost the clips.
Drivers door mirror is from a Renault 5 GTL, not a Gordini.
Drivers door has a hole at the bottom and quite rusty.
Various rust spots, scratches and dents around the car, nearside rear arch is starting to go but recoverable.
Webasto roof had a slight drip or two coming in but that adds to the character.
Drivers seat recline adjuster is broken.
Both wings need a repairing or replacing as bottoms have gone rotten.
The pictures have done me a favour and the car looks very good! close up then things change as above.
Turbo has movement in the shaft.
Tyres are perished with age and need changing but do stay up.
Stone chips on the front bonnet and a couple on the windscreen.
Even though this is a long list of things to do this car is way too good to break. It has lots of potential and there are a lot of usable parts on the car.
New Things fitted to the car are:
Front brake pipes (need bleeding)
Left and right side upper and lower ball joints.
Clutch plate.
Water pump.
Front left and right brake hoses.
Head gasket.
Turbo charger with solid shaft but metal bracket rotten.
Spares that come with the vehicle:
- Original engine (not seized)
- Gear box for parts
- Various pipes and plastics
This car will need to be put on a trailer.
