Hi everybody I took part in a Renault Alpine country road rally in France on May 3rd and 4th. It was bloody amazing, never seen so many Alpine's in one place, over 160 cars ranging from 1960 to 1992.
When I entered the two day rally I thought it was just a leisurely ride around the French country side. The drive took us onto five stages throughout the day. Start at 8am then drive for a couple of hours and stop at a vineyard for a bit of wine tasting. Then off from there to a place where we would have lunch. The scenery was absolutely beautiful, the Alpine club of that region were so friendly and generous with food and drinks and believe it or not they actually loved having the Brits there to join in with the fun. The thing that did surprise me the most is how bloody fast we were travelling while on these country lanes. Most of the guys in their A110, R8, R5 Alpine, Turbo2’s, A310, GTA’s and A610 they were not hanging around. Good thing is that as soon as we approach a little village we would go down to below the speed limit and all the locals were outside waving and cheering us on.
In France the above vehicles are very expensive and I can’t believe how they were throwing them around these very narrow country/hilly lanes. After a while I soon joined in! Mrs Dini looked a bit worried. Unfortunately I could not take a classic so I went in my Clio V6, but next year I am definitely taking the Turbo 2 or A610!!!
